Each of Us Has a Role
Many of you receiving this newsletter have strong relationships with Colorado's senior elected officials — including, but not limited to, Jared Polis, Phil Weiser, Michael Bennet, and John Hickenlooper.
We need each of you to use your influence. Please reach out to the leaders you know and encourage them to speak out publicly against Initiative 195.
The good news is that what would move them is the same thing that moves us: the damage this measure would do to every Coloradan, and most of all to the generations that follow us. I assume that is already intuitive to most of them.
What they weigh against it is political exposure. Publicly opposing Initiative 195 carries a real cost with constituencies whose support they need. Paradoxically, many of those same constituents are the ones who will be harmed the most if Initiative 195 passes. That is the message these leaders need to share with their supporters.
One other thing all of you can do: encourage the people close to you — family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues — to understand how important this issue is to Colorado's future.
