“Phil Weiser announces opposition to Amendment 87, Colorado’s graduated income tax ballot question.” That was The Colorado Sun on Friday evening.
All quotes, except Lloyd’s, in this newsletter are from this article.
“Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, the Democratic nominee for governor, announced Friday evening that he opposes Amendment 87, the graduate income tax initiative on the November ballot.”
Weiser “thinks Amendment 87 is the wrong approach.”
“Current Gov. Jared Polis, U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper and former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar are among the” high-profile Democrats to oppose the graduated income tax proposal.

Three of Four
On September 1, I borrowed a scene from Dumb and Dumber. Mary Swanson tells Lloyd Christmas his chances with her are one out of a million. Lloyd’s answer: “So you’re telling me there’s a chance.”
Lloyd only needed Mary Swanson to say yes. Colorado needed four yeses: Governor Jared Polis, Attorney General Phil Weiser, Senator Michael Bennet, and Senator John Hickenlooper. We now have three of the four agreeing that we should oppose Amendment 87. Plus Salazar!
Senator Bennet — it’s your turn.
Be on the side of protecting the next generation of Coloradans. Be against shipping our jobs to Texas. Be for supporting our vibrant economy that provides the tax revenue that supports our schools and public services and retail spending that supports our local businesses.

The Last Chance Belongs to You
VOTE NO — Amendment 87. Raises Colorado’s top individual and corporate rates to 8.4%. Our most important corporations and job creators will depart for Texas, and with them the tax base, the career opportunities and the retail spending.
VOTE YES — Proposition 136. Caps the rate at today’s 4.4%, for individuals and corporations. Prevents politicians from raising your taxes.
VOTE NO — Proposition NN. Ends TABOR refunds. Prevents politicians from keeping more of your income.
More than 450 Colorado business leaders have signed the Open Letter to Attorney General Phil Weiser and Colorado’s other elected leaders, asking them to oppose Amendment 87 and support Proposition 136. Thank you, Phil. If you haven’t yet, please add your name.

Ballots are due by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3. Did you send in your ballot? Did your family members send theirs in? Did you encourage your neighbors, friends, and colleagues to complete their ballots?
